Callen's Blessing

August 19, 2012

We waited to bless our sweet Callen until we had family in town.
Shar & Travis were moving back to UT (YAY!)  at the end of August so it turned out perfectly!
My dad helped move them out so my parents were both able to be here for it.
I love baby blessings.

It is such a sweet day to recognize what a gift this little man is in our lives.
I love being married to a man who honors the priesthood he holds and, above all, honors our Father in Heaven.  Watching Jeff take our baby in his arms and, along with the other amazing men in our lives, gives our baby a blessing, fills my heart with love and gratitude.
We are so grateful Heavenly Father sent him to our family and that he is ours forever.

(it was a VERY windy morning, but we had to take some pictures while everyone was dressed up!)

Love this family of mine:

The priesthood truly is amazing:

Our family:  Travis, Shar, and girls, US & boys, Mom, Dad, & Mckenon

Our wonderful friends, Will, Geniel, & their cute kiddos (the boys best friends) joined us for Callen's special day. We are so glad they came:

After sacrament meeting, the kids had a little energy to get out:

Love my bro:

Mom, me, Shar. Love, love, love.

Our cute Callen in his blessing outfit. He was Mr. Serious and hardly cracked a smile...

Me & my little man:

I love that my boys have such an amazing example in their daddy. Oh how I love this man:

Kapria and Mila LOOOOVE babies and couldn't wait to hold Callen. So sweet!

He was pretty tired most of the day and crashed with Grandpa:

Thank you to all of you who shared this special day with us!

Callen: 3 months

Callen's 3 month stats:
weight: 14 lbs
height: 25.5 inches

This little guy is such a joy!!
He is cooing even more and loves to talk to anyone who will look at him.
He started really giving us giggles this month and is so ticklish.
His favorite spot to be tickled is right around his neck and chest.
Callen is still SO loved by all the boys. They really are so wonderful with him and love to hold him and snuggle him.
He loves being held and snuggled and walked around.
His favorite position is upright, against your shoulder.  He loves falling asleep like that.
He traveled for the first time on a plane and slept a lot of the time, he did wonderful during the airport parts...but he didn't have a very good time in MO. At. ALL.  Apparently he is a home-body and loves his own bed!!
He is a fantastic eater and loves his time with mommy!
His schedule is still not too strict...we've been working on getting in full feedings and setting his routine of eat/play/sleep in order.
He is awake a little bit more in the daytime and  has is sleeping a pretty consistent 6-6.5 hour stretch at night from about 11 or 12 to 5 or 6ish.
We've been trying to get him to like the binky...but those fingers are winning out. We're still working on it, but it's not looking good for the binky!
He's holding his head up better and better and loves to look around.
Not a fan of tummy time.
He has a darling dimple on his right cheek. It shows up when he smiles!

Talking to daddy:

Smiling while we talk to him:

Dear Callen,
You are growing so quickly and we are trying to savor every second of your sweet baby self!
The minute we look at you, we can't help but smile, you lift our hearts and brighten our home in so many ways.
Your brothers are your biggest fans. You are so patient with them and let them each hold you and tickle you. They all love to share their blankets with you, which is so sweet for this mama to see.
Your calm temperment is such a blessing during this busy time.  We all love to relax with you in our arms. Mine and daddy's favorite time of day is when we get to snuggle you all to ourselves and chat away the evenings with you. You love our quiet time together and are such a ham when you have us alone. :)
We love you, our wonderful, sweet little boy.
Love,
Mommy & Daddy

Texas Visitors

August 8-11th
Oh my goodness, where do I even start with this trip?!
Our first visitors in our new home were Uncle Guy & Aunt Sharon and Grandpa Joe & Grandma Dean.
They all drove up from Texas to see us. US.  We are the only ones left of the Texas Drysdale boys. (sad, but true. oh how we miss our brothers/sisters/aunts/uncles/cousins)
We felt so special to have them make this long trip just for us. SO.SPECIAL.

And my oh my was it a fantastic few days. We packed so much fun into our time with them.
I didn't take pictures of everything, but here's  recap of what we fit in:  a picnic at the park, snow cones, garage sale finds, antique store in town, hotel swimming, IKEA (so fun, see pics below!), date night with the adults, dinner out with the kiddos, and lots of talking and visiting.
We just loved it so much and truly felt very loved and way too spoiled!

We were able to go swimming at the hotel where they stayed.
Cute cute boys:

This was my first time swimming since having the baby...so nice to get in a pool again!!!

I love this crazy family of mine:

 Our lovely audience:

Grandpa, Uncle Bob, Grandma Dean, & Aunt Susie. Love them!

Aunt Sharon was so happy to hold Cal:

Uncle Guy & Aunt Sharon:

We made sure to line up a sitter so we could go out with the adults. We planned on dinner and then were having so much fun (and Callen was doing awesome) so we decided to go to a movie too! (Thank you to our awesome sitter, we love her!)

Brick Oven + the Bourne Legacy + wonderful family and a hot date= best night!!!!

It was so awesome having so much time to visit and get to know this awesome lady.
I absolutely adore her and simply LOVE her to pieces!!!

Love love love Grandp & Grandma:

Uncle Guy & Aunt Sharon rock:

Bob & Susie are so amazing:

We introduced them to Oldify & Fatify. Funnies afternoon ever!

Ryder fell in love with Grandpa. He cried and cried when he left. It was so sweet to see them hanging out and having fun together. Our rambunctious little guy loved to sit on Grandpa's lap:

Ryder NEVER falls asleep with us. (I was a little jealous!) But really it was so neat to see how much he loved his Grandpa Joe:

The boys had a great time putting together paper airplanes with Grandma Dean:

Meeting sweet little Callen:

What's a trip without a little project to keep us busy?! Once Sharon heard about our 'sort of' plans for the mudroom, she set to work and made it happen. It was fun to design the space and get it functional!!  We are LOVING our cabinets and bench...and are finishing it up soon so we can post pictures!
a big Huge THANK YOU Guy & Sharon!

Oh my goodness, I know for a fact that I have never seen Uncle Guy run so fast in my life. It was HILARIOUS.  He chased the boys around and around (the mudroom forms a little hallway that you can go through on this side and then out the other end and back around...boys love it!) The boys had a blast with him!

THANK YOU so much for coming to visit us.
We absolutely LOVED our time with you and feel so honored that you came out just for us.
We love you!
